After editing together our initial practice shots we soon realised it was too bright and due to removed the whole horror element of the scene. Due to the time we shot our first practice scenes it appeared very underwhelming and unimpressive in the editing software. We choose to film at a later time in order to try and build more tension in the scene and makes the characters and background in the scene obstructed creating a scene of fear due to the unknown. Examples of films that have used night and the darkness as a way to create fear and build tension within their films and have done it successfully are Friday the 13th, The Grudge and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
