The Crazies
The use of a young girl is a stereotypical horror theme because young girls are in general the scariest in horrors this is a very effective way of setting a base to build upon to form a well made horror. The general use of a hazmat mask helps to show the infection can spread easily from one person to another insinuating fear amongst common people however the only person in the image is the young girl suggesting not many people are remaining reinforced by the graffiti in blood saying "help us" on the wall on the house in the left hand side of the screen. Also the saying "catch it in cinemas" is promoting fear to the audience.
The Devils Hand
In this poster the use of the colour red highlighting the two words "devils" and "sin" promoted the idea that this is a horror based on religious prospects such as sin and following the instructions given by the devil. The suggestion of the church in the background gives us as an audience an idea of God of which they are walking away from showing they no longer follow the ideas of Christianity but the ways of Satanism. The most effective part of the poster is the use of the woman as woman are usually the weakest characters in horror however in this they seem to be the strongest. Its also effective because of the women are usually the purist in society in reality and in movies.
Hatchet
The use of the hatchet is effective in the suggestion that this is a slasher film above all others. The poster doesn't give much away about the film which is both effective and useful as it makes the audience think they want to watch it and due to this we would make our poster very simplistic not giving too much away about the film. The blood and lighting around the hatchet is also extremely effective because it reinforces the idea yet again that this horror is a slasher based film.
The Lost Boys
This poster doesn't follow themes and conventions of the average vampire film this is effective as it is misleading to what the true intention of the film actually is. The posters colour scheme is also effective, the use of the colour red in the background suggests blood and the use of the colours black and white for the characters suggests they are vampires as black and white often follows the theme that something is old which is something that is stereotypical for vampires as they never age.
